Hyunseop Kim is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Seoul National University, where he teaches ethics and serves as an active member in running its Philosophy-Politics-Economics program. He received a Ph.D. in philosophy from New York University in 2012 and was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Center for Ethics in Society at Stanford University in 2012-14. He served as a Judge at the Seoul Eastern District Court and as a Judge Advocate in the Republic of Korea Army in 2003-6. His primary areas of research are moral, political and legal philosophy. His recent publications appeared in, among others, Philosophy, Economics and Philosophy, Oxford Studies in Philosophy of Mind, Political Theory, and International Theory. He is working on, among other things, property-owning democracy, democratic backsliding, and the value of economic growth.
